Liverpool and Manchester United played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Anfield in their Premier League clash. The game began with a goalless first half, where Liverpool dominated possession but failed to convert chances, with United’s defense holding firm. However, the second half saw an explosive turnaround, starting with an unlikely goal from United’s Lisandro Martínez. His powerful strike from a rebound hit the crossbar and bounced in, giving United the lead in the 52nd minute. Liverpool quickly responded, with Cody Gakpo cutting inside and firing a stunning shot into the top right corner to equalize just seven minutes later.

Liverpool seemed to have the upper hand after a controversial moment in the 66th minute. Matthijs de Ligt handled a header from Alexis Mac Allister inside the box, and Mohamed Salah stepped up to confidently convert the penalty, putting Liverpool ahead. But United weren’t finished yet. Amad Diallo found himself in the right place at the right time, tapping in from Alejandro Garnacho’s cross to make it 2-2, securing an invaluable point for the visitors.

The match had an intense finish, with both sides pressing for a winner. Harry Maguire had a golden opportunity to score a last-minute goal for United, but he missed a wide-open chance, firing over the bar when it seemed easier to score. Liverpool, despite dominating possession and generating more expected goals (2.87 to United’s 1.03), were left to rue missed chances, as they failed to extend their lead over second-placed Arsenal to eight points. United, on the other hand, moved up to 13th place in the league, and the result provided a much-needed boost ahead of their upcoming FA Cup clash with Arsenal.

Liverpool will now focus on their next match, an EFL Cup semi-final against Tottenham, while United prepare for their FA Cup third-round tie. Despite the draw, Liverpool’s continued dominance in the league remains clear, and they will look to bounce back and maintain their title challenge.
