Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with a thrilling 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, marked by a spectacular offensive display from key players. Luis Díaz and Mohamed Salah led the charge, each contributing significantly to a dramatic contest that featured multiple twists and turns.

Díaz opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a getting into header off Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pinpoint cross, setting the tone for Liverpool’s dominant first half. Alexis Mac Allister quickly doubled the lead with a close-range header just minutes later, but Spurs managed to fight back when James Maddison capitalized on a midfield error by Mac Allister just before halftime, reducing Liverpool’s advantage to one goal.

Despite this brief moment of optimism for the hosts, Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s two-goal lead just before the break with a clinical finish. The second half was dominated by Salah, who made history by scoring twice in a seven-minute span. These goals marked his 14th and 15th Premier League goals of the season, propelling him past Billy Liddell on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list. Salah’s contributions didn’t stop there; he also provided assists, further cementing his status as a key figure for Liverpool.

Spurs did not go down without a fight. Dejan Kulusevski scored a stunning volley, and Dominic Solanke later added another goal to breathe life into the home team’s hopes of a comeback. However, Liverpool was relentless. Díaz sealed the win in the final minutes with a precise finish, bringing the score to 6-3 in a game that could have easily seen even more goals due to the constant attacking play from both sides.

Liverpool’s defensive lapses were evident as well, with multiple opportunities arising for Spurs, but their offensive power was simply too much. Salah acknowledged the need for defensive improvements but was quick to highlight the team’s attacking prowess. “We were quite good up front but defensively we need to improve as a team,” Salah told Sky Sports. “It’s quite good the result, and hopefully we just keep going.”

With this victory, Liverpool holds a comfortable four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, boasting 39 points from 16 games, while Spurs remain in 11th place with 23 points. It was a game that not only highlighted the current strength of Liverpool’s attack but also underlined their resilience and skill in managing high-stakes encounters.
